The EDBR and its supporting task forces consist of entrepreneurs, knowledge providers and especially Rotterdam inhabitants who are willing to work for their city and the well-being of all of its inhabitants. Earlier this year, the EDBR was appointed and assigned the task of involving municipal economic partners in the development of a vision and policy. Based on the business background of many of its members, we want to, and will, get things going and assist in the implementation. With the appointment of the EDBR, Rotterdam sent a clear signal that it is not afraid to opt for administrative reform and creativity. The EDBR is a bridge in Rotterdam between government and politics on the one side and Rotterdam society on the other. The EDBR was established with the following task: "A new vision of the future serves as a guiding light and source of inspiration for all parties involved in the economy: inhabitants, businesses, (knowledge) institutions and the government. It is about * the authorities cannot do it alone * making a cultural transition; formulating an ambition that stimulates businesses, inhabitants and (knowledge) institutions to take responsibility, to invest (financially or otherwise) in the prosperity and well-being of the city of Rotterdam. An inviting perspective must be sketched for all parties that stimulates effort towards a prosperous Rotterdam."
