A city with a complete sports policy, from popular sport to top-class sports, from youth sport to sport for senior citizens and from club sport to sporting events.
Rotterdam Topsport plays a prime role in this policy when it comes to top-class sport. It functions as a network organisation in a 'public-private partnership' with the City of Rotterdam, the sports world, the business community, the media and with education and science.
Our aim is to improve the climate of top-class sports in Rotterdam. We focus on creating an optimum 'sports infrastructure' in Rotterdam.

In very concrete terms, by supervising and advising (professional) sports clubs and individual top athletes, by providing advice in the field of top sports premises, by creating facilities for talented youngsters within the educational system and offering medical care for athletes.
In close co-operation with the municipal department Sport and Recreation, we work towards improving both popular sport and top-class sports in Rotterdam.
For us, popular sport and top-class sports are inextricably linked, even though they both call for their own specific approach.

[img=left]/images/content/fotorotterdamtopsport2.jpg[/img]One of Rotterdam Topsport's main tasks is to supervise and support existing sporting events in Rotterdam and to attract new sporting events, preferably with an international aura. Sporting events can count on our financial support (sponsoring, subsidies, guarantees) and on our supervision and advice with respect to logistics, promotion and marketing. Rotterdam Topsport serves as a partner to the sports organisation during sporting events, from the bidding procedure right up to "the after-sales".

We do all this on the basis of a strategic vision, for the promotion and encouragement of sport, for the development of Rotterdam as an attractive city and for the economic spin-off. Rotterdam acknowledges the significance of sporting events as part of its city marketing policy.
